November 2013 - We moved our Monterrey facility

In November of 2013 we moved our Monterrey facility two blocks down the street into a larger facility. We moved from a 20,000 sq. ft. building into a 48,000 sq. ft. building. We are extremely proud of our staff in Monterrey. They were able to move the whole facility, and have all presses operational in less than 4 weeks. The move will allow us to grow, add more presses, and be more flexible in responding to our customer needs.

We are excited to be adding more capacity as well as venturing into a relationship with a new press manufacturer. This is our first purchase of a Haitian press. We are looking forward to seeing the benefits associated with Haitian presses.

December of 2012, E&O purchased and installed an OGP vision system

In December of 2012, E&O purchased and installed an OGP vision system. The system is in operation and functioning well. We expect that the vision system will have an immediate impact by lessening the ?in process? measurement burden on our (2) programmable CMM?s. In turn, we will have more time available for Capability Studies and special measurement requests!

December we received shipment of a new 115 Ton Hybrid Rotary Press

In December we received shipment of a new 115 Ton Hybrid Rotary Press from Nissei for our Elk River operation. We purchased this press in part to replace an older machine, but also due to an increase in our insert molding requirements. We have several new projects that will run in this machine. Its high precision and improved efficiencies will be a real benefit to our employees and our customers.

Kaizen Events 2012

E & O Tool and Plastics has always felt that Kaizen Events are a tremendous way to make improvements in our company.  From April to July we conducted 3 Kaizen events.  They were as follows:

  • 4/1/12  We developed and implemented a procedure that will produce a level of accuracy in our cycle counting that will eliminate the need for physical inventories in our Elk River facility.  We did this in conjunction with our financial auditing firm in order to satisfy our company’s financial reporting requirements of 98% accuracy.  We were successful and will enjoy a less stressful Christmas season!
  • 6/20/12  We conducted a Kaizen to reduce to amount of blended contaminated material.  This involved reorganizing the Material Handling area, and reformatting the data collection to improve accuracy and efficiency.  The net result is a 50% reduction in contaminated material.
  • 7/16/12  We conducted a Kaizen to reduce the sheer number of production related transactions in our MRP system.  The net result was a 79% reduction in daily system transactions and an overall 956 labor hours per year saved!!
