At AVID, we are deeply committed to playing our part in building a sustainable future for the injection molding industry. Through our dedication and innovative practices, we strive to minimize our environmental impact and promote eco-conscious manufacturing processes. Here are some of the initiatives we have recently implemented to try and do our part:
We recently installed a state-of-the-art closed-loop system which integrates with our chiller that significantly reduces water consumption in Elk River. This technology enabled us to save over 800,000 gallons of water in the previous year, conserving this precious resource and mitigating the strain on local water supplies. Our cool climate in Minnesota allows us to cycle the closed loop water, completing the chilling process with outdoor air. Along with using a substantially smaller quantity of water, this green initiative also reduces our electricity consumption by a significant amount.
To reduce plastic waste and enhance the ease of composition and decomposition, we have incorporated a microcell foaming agent into a segment of our parts. By utilizing this microcell foaming agent in our manufacturing processes, we not only decrease the overall plastic content but also improve the biodegradability of our products, contributing to a more sustainable product lifecycle.
Environmentally Friendly Resins
Recognizing the importance of responsible material sourcing, we actively collaborate with our resin suppliers to prioritize the use of environmentally friendly resins. By utilizing sustainable alternatives and advocating for their adoption, we aim to reduce the environmental footprint associated with the injection molding industry.
